charges filed after human remains identified as missing Beaver Co. woman

Charges have been filed against two Beaver County individuals after human remains were identified as a woman who went missing in 2022, state police said.

According to a press release, state police were requested by the Aliquippa Police Department April 18 just before noon to respond to the 100 block of 5th Avenue after human remains were found inside an abandoned building.

State police said that the remains were eventually identified as 24-year-old Ri'Kiah Griffie, who had been missing since 2022.

The press release states that Karissa Brewer, 32, of Beaver Falls and Shawn DeDominicis, 35, of Aliquippa, were charged Friday with abuse of a corpse after state police said the moved and concealed Griffie's body after she died in their apartment in October 2022.

According to state police, DeDominicis was also charged with theft, receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence for selling and disposing of Griffie's belongings after her death.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.
