Mainline Pharmacy announces closure of most locations

Rite Aid will be taking over prescriptions for patients after Mainline Pharmacy announced that it will be closing most of it's locations starting at the beginning of March.
According to John Pastorek, Director of Pharmacy, the decision to close the locations is due to the cost of the medications versus the reimbursement from Pharmacy Benefit Managers, which he explains is the middleman that contracts with an individual's insurance company and their pharmacy.
Pastorek said the pharmacy has been busier than they ever had and that they are filling more prescriptions than they have had in the past, but the pharmacy is being paid less on over 30% of the prescriptions than what it costs for them to purchase the medication from their wholesaler.
Mainline Pharmacy broke down the loss of funds in a Facebook post, saying that, so far this year, they have filled over 17,500 prescriptions for a loss, totaling a loss of over $350,000.
Pastorek said the Somerset and LTC locations will remain open at this time due to them operating on a different model that hasn't brought them the same losses yet.
According to the Facebook post, the Rite Aid that is closest to an individual's Mainline Pharmacy location will be the store receiving that individual's records.
