Nicktown man dies from severe burns after accidentally catching himself on fire

Authorities say a Cambria County man passed away Monday from severe burns after he accidentally caught himself on fire.

911 dispatchers say crews were called to a residence in Nicktown, just before 3:30 p.m. Monday, for reports of a person on fire outside.

Officials say the man was flown to a hospital in Allegheny County where he later passed away after suffering third-degree burns to 70% of his body.

The Allegheny County coroner's office has identified the man as 76-year-old Ralph Lieb, of Nicktown Hill Road.

According to the Nicktown Fire Chief, Lieb was reportedly cutting scrap metal with a torch when he accidentally caught his clothes on fire.
