CHICAGO (TND) — Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson will revisit plans to host migrants in a popular city park field house, representatives of his office told Austin Weekly News this week.
The city is reportedly weighing housing up to 200 migrants at Amundsen Park for six months. The park is located in Chicago's Austin neighborhood.
Alderman Chris Taliaferro (29th) was “blindsided,” WBBM reported, when he initially received word of the plans. The alderman had warned just one week prior that the city’s handling of its growing migrant crisis would cause tensions to rise between Black and Latino residents.
WESTMONT, Pa. (WJAC) -- a man is now in prison, facing several charges after police say he robbed a McDonald’s in Johnstown Saturday night.
It happened at the McDonald’s on Plaza Drive in Lower Yoder Township.
Police say former employee, 31-year-old Christopher Braswell Jr., robbed the restaurant right before closing, about 20 minutes before 11.
According to the criminal complaint, the general manager told police Braswell was fired from that McDonald’s on Saturday after being suspect in two other theft-related incidents at the restaurant.

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State and Vice President of Athletics Sandy Barbour have selected Carolyn Kieger as the sixth head coach of the women’s basketball program. Keiger (pronounced KEE-ger), a 2019 Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Award semifinalist, guided Marquette University to the top of the Big East Conference and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as the Golden Eagles’ head coach.
Kieger’s employment contract is subject to approval by the Committee on Compensation of the Penn State Board of Trustees.
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a Pennsylvania man is facing charges following an investigation into allegations that he repeatedly stalked two women for several years.
Police say the investigation began in April when officers were dispatched to the Clearfield County courthouse after the man reportedly left coffee and personalized cards for two female employees of the Clearfield County Probation Department.
Investigators say both women told police that the man, identified as 57-year-old Philip Cmor, of Glasgow, had been repeatedly stalking and harassing them for multiple years.

BOSWELL, Pa. (WJAC) — People gathered in Boswell, Somerset County to celebrate the Christmas season by visiting local churches.
Boswell Area Street Committee put together an open house for churches in the area.
Two churches, St. Andrews Lutheran Church and All Saints Catholic Church, opened their doors Sunday afternoon to welcome visitors.

(AP) — Lab-grown meat is not currently available in any U.S. grocery stores or restaurants. If some lawmakers have their way, it never will be.
Earlier this month, both Florida and Alabama banned the sale of cultivated meat and seafood, which is grown from animal cells. In Iowa, the governor signed a bill prohibiting schools from buying lab-grown meat. Federal lawmakers are also looking to restrict it.
It’s unclear how far these efforts will go.
