PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and a firearms charge in a shooting death in the parking lot of a western Pennsylvania mall almost two years ago. Lawrence Murphy, 21, of Braddock entered the plea Monday as part of an agreement with Allegheny County prosecutors that included a recommendation for a 15- to 30-year state prison sentence, the Tribune-Review reported. Authorities said police were called to the Monroeville mall about 17 miles (27 kilometers) east of Pittsburgh in October 2020 and found 20-year-old Saheed Gayle shot.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — Organizations at Penn State have kicked off LGBTQ Pride Month. Tuesday's events were known as "the hub take over." Outside of the events scheduled for the day, there were also information booths at the hub that cater to the LGBTQ community on campus. Organizers said the goal of this event is to raise awareness about the LGBTQ community and to make sure they are accepted.

WASHINGTON (WJLA) — A police officer was shot in Washington, D.C. on Monday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). An MPD official said the officer was shot in the Northwest area. The reported location is several blocks from MPD's Fourth District station. During a news conference on Monday, D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith said that as the officer was driving to work in his personal vehicle when he noticed a car driving erratically.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Dogs rescued from a home in Ohio due to abusive conditions are now learning what it's like to live in a loving home. One month ago, deputies raided the home and found 40 pit bulls after a witness reported the conditions. A video went viral of them outside, tethered to thick, heavy chains, with only the ability to walk in small circles around barrels. Now, the dogs are slowly but surely getting healthier, adjusting to walking on a leash, being around humans, and interacting with other dogs.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Billionaire Elon Musk and actress Talulah Riley are making another attempt to end their second marriage. Riley filed to divorce Musk on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Musk filed for divorce on New Year's Eve in 2014 but withdrew the petition seven months later. The divorce is amicable, and the pair agreed that Riley would file the petition to end their latest marriage after roughly 2 1/2 years.
BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — The Key Bridge Response Unified Command is scheduled to use precision cuts made with small charges to remove a large section of the Francis Scott Key Bridge wreckage from on top of the DALI. The exact time of the precision cuts will depend on multiple environmental and operational factors, officials said. The small charges, a standard controlled demolition tool, will split the large section of truss at specific locations to create multiple, smaller sections, which allows salvors to use cranes and barges already on scene to remove these sections of the bridge and ultimately remove the DALI from the channel.
