TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A Florida woman whose leg had to be amputated because of an infection after a pedicure has reached a $1.75 million settlement with the nail salon, her attorney said.
An employee at Tammy’s Nails 2 in Tampa cut Clara Shellman’s foot during a pedicure in September 2018, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The cut became infected and spread quickly, partly because Shellman had severe peripheral arterial disease, a circulatory condition that causes narrowed blood vessels to reduce blood flow to the limbs, the newspaper said.
GREENFIELD, Ind. (CITC) — A 10-year-old Indiana boy died by suicide earlier this month after being bullied at school, his family announced this week.
Sammy Teusch was a student at Greenfield-Central Community Schools, according to WTHR. The Teusch family told the outlet Sammy endured both physical and emotional bullying at school, with classmates allegedly recently beating him up on a school bus.

WASHINGTON (TND) — Human remains -- including dozens of skulls -- were found inside a man's house in Kentucky, according to authorities. In an affidavit, an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation noted approximately 40 skulls, as well as femurs, hip bones, and a Harvard Medical School bag, were discovered during a raid at 39-year-old James Nott’s home in Bullitt County Tuesday morning. The skulls were decorated around the furniture.

Large white clouds of smoke can be seen emanating from what has been dubbed the Blue 2 fire.
Monday marked 11 days of the fire in Lincoln National Forest.

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say a Clearfield County man was convicted last week after standing trial for his role in a 2021 fatal overdose of a 36-year-old woman.
Officials say Trevor Bloom was found guilty on most of the charges he faced, including drug delivery resulting in death, possession with the intent to deliver and reckless endangerment. He was, however, found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter, according to District Attorney Ryan Sayers.

UNIVERSITY PARK — Two Penn State University fraternities lost their recognition on Saturday after what the university called "several violations of university rules."
Delta Upsilon lost its recognition until the end of the spring semester, and Lambda Phi lost its recognition until the end of the 2019 spring semester.
According to the university, this means both frats lost their recognition as a student organization, meaning they can't participate in Greek life activities and can't participate in events like homecoming and fundraising event THON.
