JACKSBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — A man from Jacksboro, Tennessee charged with illegally killing two elk on North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area (NCWMA) last November, pleaded guilty to charges in court last week.
In a plea agreement, 34-year-old Preston William Douglas was found guilty on two counts of illegally taking big game. Douglas had his hunting license revoked for five years, is banned from NCWMA for three years, and was put on supervised probation for three years.

Although its not officially hunting and trapping season quite yet, those licenses go on sale Monday and this year there's a change on how you can purchase your antlerless deer license.
6 News spoke with an official from the Pennsylvania Game Commission who says hunters can purchase their antlerless license through the mail like usual or they can now go to a hunting store as well as online.
“This year there’s been a change in the antlerless license process,” said Travis Lau, the Communications Director with the PA Game Commission.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania mall says it will install surveillance cameras and take other measures to beef up security following criticism from officials after gunshots that prompted a lockdown and an evacuation of shoppers over the Memorial Day weekend.
The Allegheny County district attorney's office and Ross Township police had criticized Ross Park Mall officials following Saturday's gunfire, saying mall operators had refused requests to install cameras, although some individual stores have them.
STATE COLLEGE/CENTRE COUNTY, Pa — Earlier today, Ezra Nanes was sworn in as the new Mayor of State College, succeeding Ron Filippelli.
Nanes says his first objective is to show the power of a diverse community.
“It’s very important that we have a welcoming and inclusive community," he said. "That means thatevery person who comes here, studies, who lives here feels valued, protected, empowered by our community.”
Along with Nanes, three new Borough Council members also took their positions today.
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Wednesday that they have re-signed forward Drew O'Connor to a two-year deal.
O'Connor has played in parts of three seasons in the NHL after being signed by the Penguins as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
In 78 career games, O'Connor has tallied 8 goals and 9 assists. He also has 73 career points in 73 career AHL games.
O'Connor's new contract runs through the 2024-25 season and is worth approximately $925,000 annually.
MILLHEIM, Pa. (WJAC) — Some businesses in Centre County came together to help an area fire company after it canceled its biggest fundraiser of the year.
The Millheim Fire Company canceled its annual fire company carnival due to pandemic restrictions. Firefighters say it's one of their major fundraisers that help them pay for insurance on fire trucks and equipment.
As a result, Penns Valley businesses came together to support the fire company with donations.
RIDGWAY - The Ridgway Triathlon has been a popular community event in Elk County for the past 36 years.
However, executive director of the Ridgway YMCA Mary Lynne Bellotti said participation has continued to dwindle year after year.
"We're not drawing the numbers that we use to," Bellotti said. "We don't know if it's because less teams are participating and more individual athletes are doing all three events themselves."
The Ridgway Triathlon is unique because participants either canoe or kayak instead of swimming.
