BREEZEWOOD, Pa. (WJAC) — Saturday, multiple fire crews battled a massive hotel fire in Breezewood until early morning. Almost all of theEcono Lodge on Lincoln Highway was destroyed by the flames. It wasn't clear at first if the hotel was operational, but according to officials, it was. Hotel manager Jeff Wracher said more than a dozen people were currently living there on a monthly basis. But on Jan. 3, he says people were given notice to vacate because the water had to be shut off in order to repair the sewage system.
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A flamingo that was injured in Franklin County after being attacked by a snapping turtle earlier this month has died after a long battle in recovery. The flamingos first arrived in the area after they were thrown off course by strong hurricane winds in early September. Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County have filed felony retail theft charges against a Hopewell woman after she allegedly stole $11 worth of bacon from a local Dollar General. Police say on Sunday, troopers were dispatched to the store, located along Raystown Road in Broad Top Township, for the reported theft. Troopers say the store manager reportedly witnessed 36-year-old Kelli Snyder enter the store and then leave a short time later without purchasing anything.
JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa (WJAC). — Cambria County dispatch says there is a large, outdoor fire at Laurel Highlands Landfill in Jackson Township. Dispatch says West Taylor Volunteer Fire Company, Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company and Nanty Glo Fire Company were all called to the scene Monday morning. Officials say several garbage trucks were turned away by staff because of the fire. Waste Management released the following statement: Waste Management staff alerted the Jackson Township Fire Company this morning of a fire taking place on the working face of Laurel Highlands Landfill.
UPDATE | CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Fire officials in Richland Township confirmed to 6 News that Theatre Drive was closed for several hours Tuesday evening following a single-vehicle crash that knocked down power lines. Authorities say crews responded to the crash around 5 p.m. and discovered the driver of the vehicle trapped inside the car due to the live wires. Fire officials say the driver was stuck in the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes until crews were able to safely remove the wires.
CEDAR CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A woman was charged with felony manslaughter after police said she admitted to delivering fentanyl to a woman who died of an overdose shortly after. Officials arrived at a hotel room in Cedar City, where they said the woman was found with Narcan beside her along with what appeared to be blue fentanyl pills and evidence that it had been smoked. First responders said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

(WJAC) — The owner of Brookville Hometown Market says the store is set to reopen Wednesday. --------------------------------- ORIGINAL:A local grocery store will be closed until further notice after an overnight fire in Brookville. According to dispatchers, several fire companies were called to battle the blaze at Hometown Market on West Taylor Street. Officials say the call came in around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Crews from Brookville, Pine Creek and Reynoldsville got the fire under control and dispatchers say no one was hurt.
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — The Southern Poverty Law Center is calling for the end of police violence against Black people in the wake of the shooting death of Air Force airman Roger Fortson by a Florida deputy. Others are urging the community to not jump to conclusions until the Florida Department of Law Enforcement finishes its investigation. The military community is mourning the loss of the 23-year-old senior airman who was stationed at Hurlburt Field.
