CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Officials with the Cambria County Drug Coalition hosted an event that focused on alcohol prevention for minors.
The event, called "sticker shock,” was held in Johnstown, Portage and Hastings.
It focused on educating parents, friends, and family to not provide alcohol to minors, and the consequences that come with doing so.
The coalition is partnering with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board this year to launch a new campaign called "
JOHNSTOWN - The annual Jehovah's Witnesses convention draws thousands of visitors to the Cambria County War Memorial Arena each year.
"All the hotels in Johnstown are all sold out, thanks to the Jehovah's Witnesses convention," said Melissa Radovanic, director at Crown American Hotels.
"The Holiday Inn, as well as hotels in Richland Township, Ebensburg, Altoona and Somerset are sold out."
This is the fourth year the convention has been held in the city.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — During a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Blair County Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio dismissed two felony counts of attempted unlawful contact with a minor against an Altoona man accused of sending sexually explicit messages to members of an online group posing as a teenage girl.
Earlier this month, police arrested 21-year-old Kenneth Pownell after they were contacted by members of the online group 814 Pred Hunters.

FORT HILL, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities have released new information regarding a teen's death after a fall near a YMCA camp in Somerset County.
According to Somerset officials, a 15-year-old boy fell from rocks near the Cove Rocks on state forest property of Mount Davis Road.
The incident happened near the Deer Valley YMCA Family Camp just before 12:30 p.m. Monday. The Norwin School District identified the teen as rising sophomore Nathan Kanczes.
Woman sentenced to over 13 years for hiring teens in murder-for-hire plot against ex-husband

BELLEVUE, Wash. (KOMO) — The woman who pleaded guilty to hiring two teens to kill her ex-husband learned her fate Friday afternoon.
Shaerin Rose Kelley was sentenced to more than 13 years, 165 months, in prison after admitting to hiring two 17-year-olds to shoot and kill her ex-husband, Baron Li, on July 10, 2020.
Li was shot nine times at his apartment complex in Bellevue but miraculously survived and recovered.
2nd UPDATE:WESTMORELAND/SOMERSET CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to the PA Turnpike, a portion of the eastbound lane is now reopen.
The eastbound section of the crash scene is before the Donegal exit and motorists can now enter the highway at the Donegal, Somerset and Bedford exits. Westbound lanes are still closed from Breezewood to New Stanton.
