Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Movie theaters all across the country, and right here in our area, are getting ready to celebrate National Cinema Day on Saturday September 3rd. Last year, movie theaters celebrated Cinema Week as a way to get people back into the theaters, which featured exclusive content and events. This year, for the first time, theaters are celebrating National Cinema Day.

According to CBS News, citing sources familiar with the company's plans, McDonald's is considering adding the $5 menu to locations across the United States. Per the network, the meal could the following menu items:
McChicken McDouble Four-piece chicken nuggetsEach item would come with fries and a drink, per CBS. Sources told the network that McDonald's corporate offices were still in talks with franchise owners about the menu.
Social security benefit increases nationwide but seniors in PA still wait for state budget

Social security benefits will increase 3.2% in 2024 as part of the annual increase of the cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA. This adds about 50$ monthly to the average retirement benefit according to the Social Security Administration who announced this change last Thursday. The cost-of-living adjustment is calculated based on an average of the inflation readings for the months of July, August and September. The aim of the increase is to aid seniors in rising costs of goods and services – but advocates for senior care in Pennsylvania say this is not enough.
UPDATE:BLAIR CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to a release from the Logan Township police department, both drivers involved in Friday afternoon's crash in Altoona have died from their injuries.
Police say the driver of a 2015 Subaru, identified as 79-year-old Jerry Sneath, crossed the center turn lane, along the 1600 block of East Pleasant Valley Blvd., and struck the second vehicle head-on.
The driver of the second vehicle has been identified as 78-year-old Thomas Gill.
POOLESVILLE, Md. (WJLA) — A nearly 100-year-old Marine veteran in hospice Friday was hand-delivered the high school diploma he never received.
98-year-old Richard Remp was unable to get his diploma back in the 1940s because he dropped out at age 17 to serve in World War II, then Korea, and then Vietnam. But he savored the remarkable moment Friday.
Remp, who goes by "Gunny" since he was a decorated gunnery sergeant in Vietnam, has been in hospice care at home since doctors discovered stage four cancer throughout his body after he fell a few weeks ago.
SIDMAN -- Forest Hills named its next football coach Thursday night at the school board meeting.
The board approved Justin Myers to take the reigns following in the footsteps of storied head coach Don Bailey who retired after the end of last season.
Myers is a Forest Hills graduate who played football there in the 1990's, and spent last season as an assistant on staff under Bailey.
Bailey had been guiding the program since 1974 and tallied 375 career wins at the helm in Ranger country.
FALLS CREEK - Goodwill Industries of North Central Pennsylvania in Jefferson County launched an online women's thrift store that gives back to the community.
reStitch is located inside the Goodwill facility on Preston Way in Falls Creek.
Ecommerce manager Krisha Oates said reStitch is a one-of-a-kind, online, thrifting experience that features high-end women's fashion.
Oates said Goodwill gets the clothing from Macy's and other retailers, most new with tags.

University Park, PA (WJAC) — A mural dedicated to former Penn State and Steelers running back Franco Harris was unveiled at the Penn State Sports Museum on Sunday.
The mural is made up of nearly 2,000 different pictures of Harris that were submitted by friends, family and fans.
Harris passed away last December, at the age of 72.
He is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame, and his number 32 is one of three numbers that have been retired by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
