Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — There is another update in the ongoing dispute between PennDOT and one of the state's largest construction contractors, who is based in Centre County. Despite a state supreme court ruling just a few months ago, the dispute is still alive in court. It’s been almost three years since then Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced criminal charges against Glenn O Hawbaker Inc. The Centre County based contractor was charged in a wage theft case.
Nearly ten years after he was convicted on multiple child abuse charges, Jerry Sandusky's appeal process is still alive in the courts. He has another hearing in the state superior court set for Oct. 14. Sandusky's legal team claims they have new evidence of illegal collusion in the attorney general's office investigation and grand jury that led to Sandusky being charged in 2011. The superior court hearing will be done through video conferencing.
PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) — A Maine man who pleaded guilty to terrorism charges after trying to kill three New York City police officers with a machete was sentenced to 27 years in prison Thursday. In a statement, 20-year-old Trevor Bickford, of Wells, apologized and admitted he traveled near Times Square in on New Year's Eve in 2022 and attacked the officers. Prosecutors said Bickford specifically went after police officers with a machete and tried to grab one of their guns before getting shot in the shoulder.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A Johnstown man convicted of shooting and killing a local high schooler over two years ago was sentenced to life in prison on Monday. In February, a jury found Qwante Rose guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of 19-year-old Jaydin Sanderson on New Year's Day 2022. Police say Sanderson's body was found inside a vehicle along Wood Street in the Hornerstown section of the city.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Monday kicked off firearn deer hunting season, and with it each year a half-million meals will be given to those in need, thanks to hunters. Since 1991, a nonprofit charity, Hunters Sharing the Harvest, has donated more than 1 million pounds of venison throughout Pennsylvania. Donations for the 2017-2018 hunting season were record breaking, with 3,337 deer being donated, which provided 667,400 meals. LITTLETON, Colo. (TND) — Prosecutors in Colorado filed a motion to add 10 new charges against a school bus aide who was recently arrested for abusing a student who has special needs. An 11-page arrest affidavit noted 28-year-old Kiarra Jones, a paraprofessional for Littleton Public Schools, was charged in April with third-degree assault for allegedly assaulting an at-risk child with a disability on a school bus. She was released on a $5,000 surety bond and was ordered not to leave Colorado, according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
