SEATTLE (KOMO) — It was several years ago and I was working on a documentary that would eventually be called, "There But For The Grace of God...", trying to understand the epidemic of homelessness that had gripped Seattle and so many other places. I was wandering the streets of Seattle with my cameraman Doug, going to the places where broken people sought refuge. I walked into a men's shelter called Lazarus Day Center, run by Catholic Community Services.
BRADY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — One man is dead after a car versus motorcycle crash on Route 219 in Clearfield County Thursday. Officials say the crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Carson Hill Road, which is also Route 219, just south of Ace Valley Road in Brady Township. Police say a motorcycle operated by 77-year-old John Weber crossed into the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for suspected minor injuries, police say.
KARTHAUS, Pa. - Thousands of shoppers gathered their spare change and searched 100 miles of yard sales for bargains throughout Clearfield, Cameron and Elk counties. The Quehanna Industrial Development Corporation (QIDC) kicked off its 21st annual 100 Mile Yard Sale Friday. The sales began on Route 879 from Shawville through LeContes Mills, Frenchville, Keewaydin Pine Glen, Karthaus, Sinnemahoning, Driftwood, Benezette and Medix Run. "Many people who attend the sale actually purchase camps and land here because they see how beautiful this area is,"
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — One of the oldest and largest medical weight loss programs in the state was closed Wednesday. That's according to a sign that was posted on the door of the Johnstown office of Dr. Bob's Medical Weight Loss Clinic. The sign states: "due to circumstances beyond our control, Dr. Bob's Medical Weight Loss is currently closed." You’ll also receive the same message if you call the clinic.

(WJAC) — On Tuesday, the Johnstown Tomahawks officially introduced their new head coach in a press conference. 6 News sat down with the new coach for the first time as he discussed how he learned of the job opening and what to expect from the fans and the community. Last month, longtime head coach Mike Letizia resigned after spending 10 years with the Tomahawks, but in finding his successor, we learned that both the new head coach and ownership clicked immediately.
Philadelphia, PA (CNN) — Police in Pennsylvania say they arrested a man while he was dismembering his girlfriend. Police responded to a domestic call at an apartment complex in Clifton Heights on Friday. When they went to the back of the home and looked inside, authorities say they found Nicholas Scurria dismembering a woman's head. They took the 32-year-old into custody and reported finding several weapons inside of the home, including a machete.

ALTOONA -- This week Altoona police are waiting for blood-test results to determine charges for an officer who allegedly drove under the influence over the weekend, making him the third officer to face charges or citations in recent months. Chief Janice Freehling said Monday that she does not condone any of this behavior and that "the matters are being dealt with." Freehling said Officer Erik Stirk, who was off-duty at the time, was arrested and consented to blood tests.
WASHINGTON (TND) — A pair of controversial court rulings permit some non-violent felons and illegal migrants to own a firearm. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled people convicted of non-violent crimes who have finished their prison sentence are allowed to own guns. Steven Duarte is at the center of this ruling out of California. He has five prior non-violent state criminal convictions and then was convicted for tossing a handgun out of a moving car.
